The consensus over drinks and food after the last game was one more game of kickball. We have a new, bigger, bouncier ball for this week.
For those of you that do not know Kickball, it is basically baseball but with a big round ball that you kick instead of hitting it with a bat. You do not need to bring any extra equipment. Kickball is a playground sport that is just as much fun as an adult.
As usual, don't worry, if you don't know how to play, we'll show you. This group is all about having fun and meeting up with old friends or making new ones over a fun game in Prospect Park. We tend to get both players and observers. So if you don't feel up to playing, there are generally plenty of people on the sidelines with whom you can pass the time.
I will bring the bases and the ball. You should bring some water, maybe a blanket if you want to watch, and a willingness to have fun. If you plan on playing, try to bring two different t-shirts; one white and one dark or colored. It always works out, but having teams of white shirts vs. dark/colored shirts, makes it easier to see your team mates.
To make it easier to find where we play in the park, I have uploaded a map to the files area. We will be playing in Long Meadow, just north of the baseball diamonds. We will play right on the N in LONG MEADOW on the map, right in the highlighted area.
IMPORTANT NOTE: We will try to get a baseball diamond. So if you do not see us at our usual spot, we are on one of the baseball diamonds right next to our spot. It should be easy to spot the kickball game. If we get a diamond, we might have to move if a baseball team has the diamond reserved. It's not a big deal. We just move the bases and pick up where we left off.
To help defer the monthly fee and costs of equipment, etc., I ask that everyone donate $1 or $2. This is by no means required to attend and play but is greatly appreciated.
I hope to see you all there! Please RSVP so that we can gauge how many people to expect.
